Hi! I'm Becca, a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) and a licensed clinical addictions specialist (LCAS) in North Carolina.
I earned my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. I have a background in working in community mental health with clients with severe and persistent mental health disorders.
Now in my private practice, I provide a wide range of support to clients around a wide range of concerns, including, ADHD, anxiety, Bipolar disorder, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, substance use, and trauma.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family members, backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and using my creative bone to make functional art.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method. Focusing on the complexity of the body and how it stores traumatic memories, we incorporate bilateral stimulation to reduce the vividness and emotion associated with these memories.
Our thoughts influence our behaviors. When our thoughts are overwhelmingly negative, they can make us act in a way we don't want to. We can work together to challenge these negative self-beliefs and restructure our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
We focus on the modules of mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. DBT includes tangible skills to be practiced weekly to enhance a sense of control in your daily life and create a life worth living.
CPT is a regimented 12 session trauma processing therapy that incorporates themes of safety, power/control, intimacy, trust, and esteem.
